Govt asked to adopt Fawema’s TA programme
Some teachers in Mwanza have asked government to adopt the use of Teacher Assistants (TA) in primary schools especially junior classes to help in class management due to high enrolment.
The teachers said this on Thursday afternoon at Mphande Primary School in Mwanza when Usaid donated teaching and learning materials worth K15 million from its $498 000 fixed obligation grant to Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi (Fawema) Early Grade reading assessment (Egra) programme.
Enock Chinomba, from the department of Teacher Education and Development (Deted), concurred with the teachers saying as a teacher he knows how hard it is to manage over 100 pupils.
